About Plains Grain & Agronomy

How it began

The story of Plains Grain & Agronomy began in January 2000 when the boards of directors of seven elevators in southeastern North Dakota met to discuss the future of their businesses. These leaders saw a need to join together to plan and implement a project that would meet the needs of their patrons and provide competitive grain prices and agronomy services to their customers.

Four of those entities - Enderlin Farmers Elevator, Marion Equity Elevator, Kathryn Farmers Mutual Elevator, and Miller Elevator at Fingal - started operations as Plains Grain & Agronomy on December 1, 2002. Sheldon Farmers Elevator joined PGAg in 2003. Since 2007, the company has added many more million bushels of storage, currently bringing the total storage capacity to 6.7 million bushels across all locations.
